Finally felt like posting about WCG after 2 weeks i think? Heheheh, anyway it was real fun working in WCG although the pay isn’t that high. All this while i’ve always wanted to be a part of WCG as a gamer, but looks like i quit playing CS before i even got to WCG =P Finally, this year i’m part of WCG ! Heheh, but as a Marshal and i didn’t mind at all. It’s FUN.

Well, since it was 2 weeks ago, i’m only gonna post what i can remember. The first day was the registration day and the day where registered gamers get to stress test the PC. The day was freaking hot since they didn’t switch on the air conditioning for the exhibition hall, so we were all actually sweating away the whole day.

I just walked around and look at gamers test the PC and make sure they don’t screw up with the settings but of course occassionally we get to play too provided that there’re no gamers playing. The other exhibitors (Intel, Samsung etc.) are also busy setting up their booths while the rest of the ppl gets busy setting up the main stage, mini stage etc.

The day ended at around 10pm with the usual meeting/briefing for the next day and this is when we got our shirts for the next day. The shirt looks quite good this year and the best thing is, they’re printed by Radioactive!

And of course, my Marshal tag =D
Day two. Friday. Today is when the competition starts. It all started at about 11am with the opening ceremony and the speeches by the VIP and when it all ended at about 12pm, the competition starts! Round one started immediately and of course we as Marshals had to stand and just look at the gamers battle their guts out. The format is a single elimination so actually we felt quite bad for the gamers cause if they lose, they’ll have no chance whatsoever in the tournament anymore. Everything ended at about 4pm-ish and the DoTA tournament begins, this dragged till night and then the day ended at around 9pm-ish again with another briefing.

Day Three. Saturday. It was a very very long day which actually stretched up till 10pm cause the national qualifiers are down and of course a small mistake i made. =P
Day Four. Sunday. Today’s the finals and of course the closing ceremony where everything ends. Basically we’re quite free to walk around as most of the games have already finished playing and we’re free to do anything we want. Of course, the most anticipated game would be CS :Source finals which are at about 3pm. That is the time everyone gathers at the main stage to witness the finals. Blah blah blah, then the closing ceremony and prize giving ceremony begins.

After everything ended at around 6pm-ish. We started the tear down, clearing up the places, taking down the booths, keeping the PCs back into their respective boxes blah blah blah. And since it was the last day for a staff of In2, there’s a dinner in Cafe Flam in Sunway. All of us went there at about 10pm-ish and started gobbling down the food cause everyone was super hungry, heheh. At 1am-ish everyone started saying bye to each other and shaked hands and left.

The amount of boxes we have to fill up with ! >_<
Monday, i went back there to help out with the tear down. It was quite easy actually, and not to mention fun too although a bit tiring cause we’re all carrying PCs, monitors etc. around. We all finished at around 6pm so me and another friend went to catch a movie since everywhere will be jammed if we try to leave. Watched Herbie and it was great =D
Overall, it was a great experience working in WCG and of course fun ! and of course i wouldn’t mind working again next year IF i get the chance. This year’s grand finals will be held in Singapore and it’s quite rare we get to witness the grand finals so near to my own country, so there’ll be quite a chance that i’ll be going down to Singapore in November, heheh.
